It’s far too easy to shortchange personal communion with God in the midst of life and ministry. Yet, we can do nothing if we separate ourselves from Jesus. If we do not abide and commune with Him, our souls will shrivel and our idols will strengthen.
Since nothing can replace a vibrant relationship with Jesus, nothing is more important in your life or ministry than communing with Him. This Intensive will provide essential theory and practice of the spiritual disciplines that will help you grow and stay close to your Saviour. This particular intensive will be focused on the spiritual discipline of prayer.
NOTE: You DON'T need to have taken Devotion Part A in order to do Part B. Each of these are stand alone intensives. Everyone is welcome.

Do you want to be used by God to help others grow and change? “God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things in the lives of others.”This introductory module will help equip believers to counsel others using the wisdom and narrative of scripture. It will explain what biblical counseling is, and how God uses the body of Christ to work change in the lives of believers, encouraging them to step into the messiness of life with others with both a purpose and a hope in doing so. It will include both theoretical and practical learning and application in a small group setting, with some reflection and action homework.
Students will be required to read Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands, by Paul Tripp (2002); the course will cost $35, which includes the book and all other materials.
Prior to the first meeting, students will need to complete a reflection assignment in preparation. This will be emailed after registration.
This course will run every third Thursday, starting October 3 and ending December 5. The minimum number needed to run the class is 3 and the maximum is 6. Please be able to commit to attending at least 3 of the 4 evenings of the module.

The tension we find ourselves in, as followers of Jesus, is how do we take the timeless truths of the Gospel to the ever-evolving post-modern world around us? How do we share the truths of the Gospel in a culture where truth is based on personal preferences and is fluid depending on the moment we find ourselves?
This three-week module will focus on training followers of Jesus to share the Good News of the Gospel to a post-modern world. We will spend the first week unpacking evangelism, God's role, and our role. In the second week, we will spend time looking at what we mean by post-modern culture and some of the big ideas that we need to be aware of. And in the third week, we will focus on tools for evangelism in a post-modern culture so we can effectively take the Gospel to our city.
Baptism is one of the two ordinances given by Jesus for the church. Yet, there can be a lot of confusion around baptism. This class is designed to give clarity around some of the basic questions about baptism and how we practice baptism at The Compass Church. In this class we will ask the what, why, who and how of baptism! We will answer, "What is Baptism?", "Why should you be baptized?" , "Who should be baptized?" and "How should a person be baptized?
“The Bible is confusing!”, “Where do I begin?”, “When I read it, I don’t understand what’s going on.” These are some of the common questions and phrases that many people feel when they pick up a Bible. The purpose of this module is to give you confidence and some practical helps so that you can dive in on your own.
In the “Introduction to the Bible” module, we’ll be spending two weeks looking at how the Bible came together, giving a basic overview of how the Bible is put together, and tools for how we can start to read the Bible on our own.
