Multiply and Gospel Coach

If there was one common thread question throughout the Multiply Conference, I would say it was how do we best make and help grow disciples of Jesus. For two days, we listened to Pastors share how God was working in their hearts to show them that this is of utmost importance. The Bible commands us to make disciples and gives us the story of how God through the early church made disciples, but it does not give us a step-by-step guide on how to do that in our day. Pastors from different tribes shared the common goal of wanting to make disciples, and they also shared the way they were doing this in the city or town that God has them in. We heard of many different models and strategies that people are using to better make and train disciples. We came away with some great theological ideas, as well as practical things that will help us better make disciples and plant churches.

Gospel Coach

We attended a two-day training called Gospel Coach. This training was lead by Scott Thomas, the former president of the Acts 29 church planting network. Scott taught us how to council or coach people in a Gospel-centred way. He challenged us as pastors to make sure that we were being coached by someone and that we were also coaching someone. He challenged us to listen far more than talk in coaching, and gave us practical steps on how to ask the right questions to get to the heart of a person's issue, then be able to present the Gospel to that issue. Gospel Coach is a book that we recommend you getting your hands on.

We had a great time as a leadership team being away together. We got to know each other in a whole new way by traveling and spending a lot of time together. We came away with great things that I believe God will use in and through us on the mission He has called us to in Regina. We also came away more unified as a team. I am excited to see what God is going to do in Regina through The Compass Church as we live out the mission He has called us to in our great city.
