Music, Emotions and Lights

Here we are the first full week of 2013! If you seen the movie, "Christmas Vacation," Clarke Griswold, the main character, plans on having the best Christmas ever! Shannon, my wife, during Christmas calls me Clarke! I love Christmas, I love the music, emotions and the lights of the season, and the awe of Jesus coming to earth! But I often find myself so depressed with January blues! Why is this? Every year I set out, “Not this year, no blues for Murray!” But here I am again, a little blue, because the excitement of Christmas is gone.

As I was reading a book called, “Gospel Change,” I found out that my January blue comes from a lack of understanding the Gospel!

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purifications for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” - Hebrews 1:1-3.

See so often in my own life, I want God to show up in dreams and angels, and in the perfect Christmas! I often forget that Christ is enough! He is sufficient! He is sufficient when we have a bad day, bad Christmas, January blues, loss of job, loss of a friend! HE IS ENOUGH! God still does speak through dreams, visions, prophecies, but He has spoken with a megaphone by sending Jesus! God has already spoken! What more do we want? I often run to the quick fix rather than running to the Word!

“A man was tying himself up in knots with decisions about job and house. He said, “What I need is an e-mail from God.” Quick as a flash someone said, “Here it is,” and handed him a Bible. “Gospel Change.” God has spoken to us by sending us the best gift that will last a lifetime.
